NO one feels especially smart and/or clever on Monday mornings. Well, no one who’s currently in the process of writing this post, anyway. So one of us was only mildly alarmed when we perused an excellent blog* one of us really enjoys reading, and were linked to A “JUICY” SITE that provides a way to actually measure a few interesting things related to content, including, but not limited to, the overall level of intelligence contained within any given blog. We’re not sure if this means anything, but we thought it would be fun to “do the math” on the Snark Park, nonetheless. Here’s what we learned:
Thus far we’ve managed to crank out a total of 2465 2686 words.**
We average 8.96 8.89 words per sentence.
Of those words:
16901824 have 1 syllable521571 have 2178202 have 3- and
7689 have 4 or more!
That last one really impressed us, because we didn’t even know we knew 4 syllable words! Ultimately, we average 1.45 1.46 syllables per word. Hey, we may be chatty, but we use the big guns sparingly.
Furthermore, we garnered a score in something called a “Flesch Reading Ease” of 75.21 74.09, (ideal is around 60-70) and a “Flesch-Kincaid Grade” of 5 5.13, which means, basically, we’re writing at a 5th Grade level. That’s right. Fifth Grade. You’d think we’d be embarrassed, but you would be wrong grossly underestimating our response to the situation.
Now it’s your turn to find out where your blogs fit into all of this and/or tell us what you scored. Go on… just type your URL HERE, and see what you come up with. Oh, and while you’re over there? Would you mind reading up on these “tests”? And then, could we prevail upon you to come back and explain to the rest of us what the hell they mean? Because we really are fascinated, just not enough to actually find out for ourselves. Oh, and for godssake, when you do tell us about it, be sure to use small words as many monosyllabic descriptive terms as you’re qualified to incorporate into your explanation. Otherwise… you’ll lose us there’s a distinct possiblity we won’t be capable of processing the information properly.

We’d try, but she already knows what we look like, and we’re afraid she might slam her imposing blog-door in our face again.

And I have to be honest, I didn’t even know I had a blog door, let alone one to slam. I thought I had the super take that thing off the hinges back when I first moved in.

Which reminds me of Tali’s first grade teacher Mrs. Friedman who would walk around the class and when a student gave a good answer (or it seemed that they had tried really hard) she would go up and shake their hand saying “Let me shake the hand of a highly intelligent young lady!”. The funniest thing was that Mrs. Friedman wasn’t much taller than some of her 1st graders, but she did introduce them to Shakespeare!

I remember my 1st grade teacher (barely, but I do…no wisecracks necessary)as being warm and nurturing…although she did make me go sit in the coat closet once because she caught me out of my seat after telling the class to stay put. As I recall, I had gotten up to kiss the hand of a girl I had a crush on…talk about crashing and burning, yikes! Not much more humiliating than sitting in a closet…even a walk through.
